Nutrient-capturing field experiment on Kuku Radio
On March 28, Margit Kõiv-Vainik, a member of our Centre of Excellence’s Environmental Technology Working Group, spoke on Kuku Radio’s show “Loodusajakiri” about Estonia’s first large-scale constructed treatment wetland. She also explained the environmental benefits of it and how farmers can benefit from the sediments.
Biodiversity discussion in NULA Incubator Podcast
On March 19, Aveliina Helm, head of our Landscape Biodiversity Group and Professor of Restoration Ecology at the University of Tartu, was a guest on the NULA Incubator podcast “Kus viga näed laita?”.

In February 2025, the second coffee morning of the Centre of Excellence was held on the topic “How to manage the forest so that carbon is sequestered and biota is preserved?”.
Meeting with the Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture Representatives
The leaders of our Centre of Excellence’s working groups – Ivika Ostonen, Eve Veromann, Evelyn Uuemaa, and Ants-Hannes Viira – met with representatives of the Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture to discuss how the research and results of FutureScapes could support the development of interventions initiating land-use changes and, more broadly, the shaping of land-use policy. The discussion was highly productive, providing a clearer direction for future cooperation opportunities and next steps.
