Our Centre of Excellence Principal Investigator, Professor Evelyn Uuemaa, participated in the panel discussion last week at the University of Tartu’s Faculty of Science and Technology conference “Artificial Intelligence in Natural Sciences: Who Teaches Whom?”.

Together with Professor Meelis Kull, Johann Langemets, and an AI named Marvin, they discussed the nature of artificial intelligence. The discussion explored whether artificial intelligence is capable of revealing new knowledge and emphasized the importance of data quality in AI training. The panel was moderated by Sander Loite.
The Centre of Excellence of Sustainable Land Use also employs AI in spatial modelling of both carbon fluxes and biodiversity, as well as in identifying connections between these two indicators. Therefore, it is important for us to acknowledge and discuss the opportunities and limitations of artificial intelligence.
