1. Describe in one sentence what your working group works on at FutureScapes.
The Environmental Technology Working Group studies the flows of matter and energy in different ecosystems.
2. What do you think is currently the biggest challenge in land use in Estonia?
Estonia still has many cut-over peatlands, as well as peatlands with water regimes that have been altered by drainage and are in need of restoration.
3. Why is Estonia a good place to live?
Estonia’s clean natural environment is undoubtedly one of the greatest reasons why it is such a good place to live.
4. Which book would you definitely recommend?
Off the Wall: Death in Yosemite by Ghiglieri and Farabee. Scale: The Universal Laws of Life, Growth, and Death in Organisms, Cities, and Companies by Geoffrey West.
5. Which place in Estonia would you definitely recommend visiting, and why?
Ruhnu. This small and relatively isolated island is exceptionally diverse. Even the 3–3.5-hour ferry trip is an experience in itself. The island also offers rich nature, cultural heritage, and kilometres of sandy beaches. There is something for everyone!
