Let’s get to know the people behind FutureScapes better. This time, five questions are answered by Eve Veromann, Team Lead of our Agroecology Research Group.
Eve Veromann, Team Lead of our Agroecology Research Group.
1. Describe in one sentence what your working group works on at FutureScapes.
Our Agroecology Research Group studies how biodiversity supports agricultural production and helps make food production more sustainable.
2. What do you think is currently the biggest challenge in land use in Estonia?
One of the biggest challenges is the loss of fertile agricultural land to residential development, commercial areas, and infrastructure.
3. Why is Estonia a good place to live?
Estonia has beautiful nature, a clean environment, and a low population density.
4. Which book would you definitely recommend?
There are many, but if I had to choose just one, it would be The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It is a short but profound story about human relationships, values, and what truly matters in life.
However, I cannot leave out the books by Delia and Mark Owens. Their unwavering dedication to protecting nature and animals is truly worthy of admiration.
5. Which place in Estonia would you definitely recommend visiting, and why?
I recommend visiting Laelatu wooded meadow and other meadows in Lääne County and on the Estonian islands when the meadow plants are in bloom. These are among our most species-rich and beautiful semi-natural habitats, where the beauty and diversity of Estonian nature can be experienced at every step.
